BIT Computer Wins Contract to Build Hospital Information System for Laos University of Health Sciences ₩8.1 Billion Project for HIS Development as Part of Laos National University Hospital Construction Strengthening Presence in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Global Digital Healthcare Markets BIT Computer Co., Ltd. (Co-CEOs: Hyunjung Cho and Jinok Jeon) announced on June 2 that it has secured the contract for the Hospital Information System (HIS) development segment of the “Construction of University of Health Sciences Hospital Project” in Laos, funded by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) managed by the Export-Import Bank of Korea. This marks a significant step in strengthening the company’s global presence in digital healthcare. The project was awarded to a consortium formed by Ilsung Construction and BIT Computer, with Ilsung overseeing the overall project and BIT Computer responsible for developing and implementing the hospital information system. The project is valued at KRW 8.1 billion (approx. USD 5.8 million) and will be carried out over a 31-month period. This initiative is a national key project by the Ministry of Health of Laos, aimed at modernizing healthcare infrastructure and improving the quality of medical services. BIT Computer will deploy its integrated hospital information system, ‘Bitnix HIT,’ which includes core modules such as Order Communication System (OCS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), and Hospital Administrative Management System (ERP), to build a state-of-the-art system for a university hospital. ‘Bitnix HIT’ is a web-based platform, enabling interoperability and seamless data exchange among medical institutions. It also supports future-readiness by offering telemedicine features, ensuring adaptability to evolving healthcare environments. Jinok Jeon, CEO of BIT Computer, commented, “Winning this project signifies the recognition of BIT Computer’s technological excellence and reliability in the medical informatics sector in Laos.” She added, “Leveraging our prior experience and expertise from successfully implementing HIS in countries like Thailand, the Philippines, and Cambodia, we will focus on enhancing the quality and operational efficiency of Laos’s healthcare services.” Jeon also emphasized the company’s long-term vision: “We aim to solidify our position as a global leader in medical IT by continuously expanding our international business.” BIT Computer is Korea’s top-ranking healthcare IT company in both market share for hospital information systems and telemedicine implementations. The company has actively developed HIS and digital healthcare projects in various countries including Thailand, Mongolia, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, the Amazon River hospital ship in Brazil, and Peru. Recently, BIT Computer signed a contract to develop a next-generation HIS for Intermed Hospital in Mongolia, further advancing its expansion into Southeast and Central Asian markets and reinforcing its global presence in strategic digital healthcare initiatives.
